CLAIMS

    Desert Specialty Adjusters, Inc. is a sister company of DSU, Inc. and handles or administrates all claims arising out of the business written by DSU.  In addition, they act as independent adjusters for a number of outside insurance companies that we do not deal with.   DSA handles claims in both New Mexico and Colorado with the help of a number of affiliated independent adjusting firms.

HOW TO REPORT CLAIMS

   Desert Specialty Adjusters is your first stop in reporting any type of claim.  The first step in reporting a claim is to submit the appropriate First Notice of Loss, either property or liability.  These should be submitted at the earliest opportunity by FAX.  In all cases, you should also mail us a hard copy.  Upon receipt, if DSA has questions, they will contact you, otherwise they will proceed to handle the claim.

   In the course of claim, if you have questions please contact DSA.  If you receive inquiries from the insured as to the status of claim, you should direct them to contact DSA.  Producers should avoid making any comments on open claims to insureds or claimants.

   Upon the resolution of the claim, you will receive a copy of the disposition and in some cases, a Proof of Loss and the payment check.  The Proof of Loss should be signed by the insured and notarized prior to releasing the payment check to the claimant.
